10 ‘different’ stocking filler ideas for kids

I see so many people asking for stocking filler ideas around this time of year. Sometimes you can get stuck in a rut of socks and pants so  so I have put together a list of some stocking filler ideas for kids that you may not have thought of. Some of them are especially good because they wont add to the vast amount of stuff you will have after Christmas – they can either be used and thrown away or they dont take up space (apologies if this is nothing new :))

  1. Bath Slime – We got this one for about the same price from Smyths and my girls really enjoyed it!! the amount of water you need is only small otherwise it is too thin but it still fills enough of the bath to play in and is GREAT fun. It also is great as you use it, they experience it and you throw it away.
  2.  Disposable Camera  – I always enjoyed putting my pictures in to be developed and in the world now that’s something our kids don’t get to experience. That’s exactly why I got some of these last Christmas for my 2 last year…then spent months reminding them to put on the flash. They loved waiting for them to be developed later in the year 🙂
  3. A Card Game – A great gift that you can then get out on Christmas evening together. UNO is a firm favorite in our house and it is suitable for a wide age range another good one is Dobble.
  4. My Book – Obviously I don’t want to spam about this but I couldn’t not mention it 🙂 A lovely story about a little girl that isn’t a mermaid, fairy or princess but would make a great stocking filler for either a girl or boy.
  5. Bertie Botts Beans – Any Harry Potter fans will know what these are! I would only recommend these for older children as one of the flavours made my (then) 4 year old cry (oops). For younger children Jelly Bellys are better.
  6. Glow in the dark stars – This is a good one as kids love them and they don’t need to clutter up your house after Christmas – you put them on the ceiling and they take up no space!
  7. Hot Chocolate Spoons – These ones are quite a lot but you could separate them between children or I bought some from B&M for much less. Great one to get for Christmas night.
  8. Crayons and bag sized activity books – Now i think this is a bit of an obvious one but i tend to get these to leave in my bag for appointments and other opportunities when i need to at least attempt to keep them quiet
  9. Homemade coupons Like the ones you get for Valentine’s day but totally NOT like that! this link is one that offer free printables but you could obviously create your own. Ideas include – Family games night (See UNO above), Day out somewhere local or movie night
  10. Balloon Modelling Kit – Great one to share as a family and make memories also a great one to get out if you are having other people over…Always good for them to learn a new skill 🙂

If anyone else has any suggestions I’d love to see them! comment below.
