Laser Swat

Laser SWAT the new outdoor laser tag based in Woodside Luton, Bedfordshire.

What we thought!

After posting about Laser SWAT, my family and I went to check it out for ourselves. I’ve recently had a baby so I sat on the side with her as running with her strapped to my front would have only slowed me down :), My eldest daughter and husband really really enjoyed it! Every time I saw my daughter she was buzzing (as were all the other children, the majority of which were there with a party). The people that run it were really passionate and clearly enjoy what they do, they were pulling out all the stops to make sure that everyone was enjoying themselves which was nice to see.

The session was 2 hours (it was a work out!!) and the variety of the games kept it exciting.  There was no pressure for anyone to keep playing if they needed a rest and there was free tea and shelter for anyone watching. The weather was very very windy but when they were out running they were warm enough to keep enjoying themselves so weather wouldn’t be a problem for the players (if its raining make sure you are prepared to get muddy).

My daughter said it was really fun, she would love to do it again and we were making plans to revisit with friends as she enjoyed it so much. This is what she said.

“When you arrive you are put in a team (either blue or red) and you have sensors on your head which go over your team colour cap and those sensors are what people aim at. There were different games and one of them was capture the flag where you had to capture a flag (which was a cap) from the other teams base, there was a zombie one where there were a few people that were zombies and they had to shoot all the other people to make them zombies too and the last one standing was the winner.  There was also a normal one where the teams were against each other and you had 5 minutes with unlimited re-sporns* and after that once you died you were out and then the team with most left won. That game was my favourite.

It was really fun, it didn’t make a difference that I went without my friends and played against people I didn’t know but it would be good to do with friends too. I liked how you had a name on your gun my name was Ninja.”

She was a big fan!

It is run locally so would be great to go along, support a local business and have a great time at the same time. Find out more below or visit their website and make sure you follow their Facebook page in case you need them in the future.

*re=sporns were basically where you run to a box and are brought back to life to continue the game.

A designated law enforcement team whose members are, recruited, selected, trained, equipped and assigned to resolve critical incidents!”

For those of you that haven’t tried outdoor laser tag before it basically involves all the fun and excitement of paintball without any of the pain so it’s great for kids and for those that don’t fancy being covered in bruises and crying in the forest. It also is less messy as it doesn’t involve paint (which for anyone that watched Byker Grove, will agree is a good thing) and you also have unlimited ammo so you can just carry on without paying to fill up (once you have paid to attend there is no other additional costs).

At Laser SWAT they run different missions so you can get well involved in the whole experience. Its a really good opportunity to get outside with family and friends, get exercising and enjoy the outdoors – all while letting out your inner child. They have different challenges for you to get involved in and their equptment is state-of-the-art so you can just concentrate on having a great time. Separate games are offered for younger players making sure its all fair, it is suitable from the age of 5.

Sessions are 2 hours each and everyone can get involved, so parents and siblings (actually anyone in the family) can join in on any session. You can have private sessions with anything from 30 to 40 players or you can go on your own and groups will be sorted out on the day so it would be great if you wanted to go on a parent child date with a difference.

This is a local venture and they have some really great reviews on their Facebook page so go over and take a look 🙂 also make sure you give them as like in case you need them in the future.

They are nice and easy to get to (just off Junction 10 of the M1) and you can book with them directly online.
