The Lodge Nature Reserve

The Lodge Nature Reserve is in Sandy in Bedfordshire and is home to a host of birds and beautiful scenery. The staff are really friendly and helpful and there are facilities such as toilets, a visitor centre, information centre and picnic area. They also have a great den building area information centre there is a lovely den building area where you can enjoy creating your own den or playing around in the ones previously built by other visitors.

In the visitor centre there is a little shop with sandwiches and stuff to buy and coffee machine and in the information centre you can lots of information including maps and activity sheets, If you wanted to go on one of their suggested nature trails you can pick up a map that details the nature trails to follow. There is also staff around so you can get recommendations.

The kids activity sheets are free to pick up (donations welcome) and come along with a pencil and clipboard and my girls LOVED doing them – they got well in to it, checking off things they had spotted! We did a bird spotting one and colours of nature one. The nature reserve is very pretty and the walks are nice and peaceful. We enjoyed going around and kept stopping along the way to enjoy the scenery, climb trees and discover all parts of nature it had to offer.

Parking is £6 per car but entry to the nature reserve is free. They are obviously a charity so donations are welcome. If you enjoy being outdoors this is a lovely day out, take a picnic and you can easily spend several hours there.
