Don’t Get Locked In – Escape Room in Bedfordshire

Don’t Get Locked In is a new escape room experience located in Wing, just outside of Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. Personally I have no experience of escape rooms but they have become popular lately and after just one look at the Don’t Get Locked In website I’ve had to promise my 8 year old (and husband) a trip – it looks really exciting!

It is suitable for ages 8+ and looks like a great activity for families with older children – when it can be difficult to find things to do together that would interest everyone. It would be a great opportunity to work together and experience something as a family :).

How does it work?

Basically you are locked in a room as a team and you have 60 minutes to escape! They have set a scenario which has an objective that you need to work out and achieve together in order to be successful and “win” your task. Although you are locked in, you have a game master who watches you and can provide you with clues if you want to help along the way and you can make the game as difficult or as easy as you would like to by playing their unique  ‘Kudos Challenge’, making it suitable for such a wide age range.

You are welcome to get dressed up and get fully immersed in the experience or to simply show up and see what its all about but the scene resembles a 1940’s war time code breaking room and the only hint to the modern day is the tablet on the wall which passes on clues when you request them.

The Scenario

The Secret Hut

1940 – Bletchley

The war is not going well. The German’s are advancing towards the coast of France and Belgium.

Any resistance made by the allied forces is swept aside by the mighty German army.

A resistance group have found top secret plans from the German high command which describe the next phase of the German advance including most crucially how they plan to invade England.

The plans were being decoded in a secret hut near Bletchley but all of the agents have mysteriously disappeared. You have been asked to assemble a team by Mr Churchill to go to the secret hut and try to find the plans before it is too late.

When you unlock the door to the hut you quickly discover that you have triggered an alarm, you have 1 hour to find the plans or suffer a far worse fate.

Cost

The cost is £20 for adults, £18 for seniors and £10 for children under 16. You can find out more information on their website.
I’m a great fan of buying experiences as gifts for people – especially if you aren’t sure about what to get them. It’s different and is always nice to give someone an experience instead of a material item.- Don’t Get Locked In offer gift vouchers which would be a great present for someone for Christmas!!
